Accomodation

There are various accommodation options available for international students:

Halls of residence: Many institutions gives a priority of a room in halls for all new international students (provided you apply by the last date), and most students choose this option if offered. Usually these are single study Bedrooms, supervised by a warden. Halls of residence are either catered or self-catered. Catered halls usually serve breakfast and dinner during week days and three meals a day during week-ends and cost includes most of food and energy.

Cost: Catered halls: £70 - £90 for each week; Self-catered halls: £55 - £60 for each week.

Private accommodation: There is a shortage of institution managed accommodation, particularly in the higher education sector, around the UK and hence not all are offered a room in halls. Private accommodation is available in plenty and cheap, depending on the area and demand. You can rent a flat on your own or share with other students – in majority of the case you would need to share electricity, telephone bills; furniture, kitchen, toilet facilities. Cost: £35 - £65 per week

Homestay: Many British families offer homestay accommodation to international students. It offers a wonderful opportunity to explore a different culture, & lifestyle than that of yours and provides a quick way to integrate into the British society. Homestay accommodation is usually best suitable for students of language institutions. Cost: £25 - £70 per week.
