Lancashire Business School has been visited on three occasions by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA). Four departments were inspected and all four were awarded a rating of excellent, each scoring 22 points out of a possible 24.

The department was visited in 1997 and scored 22 points out of

a possible 24, one of the best two or three results in the country. Assessors looked at the curriculum, teaching quality, student progression, student support, resources and quality assurance in their conclusions the QAA said.

PLACEMENT YEAR

The aim of a placement is to allow the student to benefit by learning from practical work experience.

  • As the placement year is only 12 months it’s a great chance to employ motivated and enthusiastic students to undertake a specialised project or cover for temporary shortages

How does the University of Central Lancashire prepare the students for the real world of work?

Placement students undertake a module which introduces them to the world of full time employment. They assess what kind of job will suit them best and how to develop their skills while on placement.

Students are also introduced to the major recruitment processes and actively participate in exercises alone and in groups. The students will have fully completed a health and safety in the workplace training courses.

If one of our students gets placed within your company, we will then ask you to complete our Health and Safety Placement Questionnaire which we will send out to you, and you will also have to provide a copy of your Employer’s Liability Certificate, Health and Safety statement and appropriate risk assessments.

In addition to the courses available on campus you can study a UCLan award with one of our 23 Partner Colleges. These colleges deliver a range of HE courses for the people of the North West, allowing students to study locally for their HE award.
